Sleigh Runs 2019

santa 300x264
It’s time for Santa and his band of helpers to trawl the streets of Hykeham and Witham again for our annual sleigh runs.

We need to draw your attention to things which may have an impact on the runs we are able to complete.

Our volunteer members are not as young and fit as they used to be so we are relying on friends and family to come and help us this year to try and continue with the sleigh runs.

Our insurers have given us a few additional rules to abide by this year, such as no going down streets where there are parked cars on both sides, if Santa is on board the sleigh we have to go slower than we have previously done and also Santa has to be strapped in with a harness.

We have a licence which stipulates the times we can be on the road for collection.

As we have mentioned before, we are all volunteers trying to raise money for local good causes. We don’t want to disappoint any children but with these new challenges to overcome we may not be able to reach you all and therefore need you to be understanding if we don’t get to you when expected.

If you would like to be one of Santa’s helpers next year come and join the Hykeham Lions.

Hykeham Lions Club was established in 1989. The club is made up of like minded friendly people who have made a conscious decision to give something back to their community.

The main objective of its members is to raise funds to support local charities, individuals and good causes.

Hykeham Lions run and organise various fundraising events throughout the year, examples of which are Golf Days, Wine Tasting evenings (with a difference), Casino nights, Easter Egg Raffles, Trolley dashes and at the end of the year they arrange for Santa to visit the streets of the local area.

In addition to fund raising the members of the club also volunteer their services to assist in local projects which are for the benefit of the community. Projects such as the Excellent Aging, working with the local council and Marshaling of local events.

The Hykeham Lions Club hold many social events which include Barbeques, Formal Dinners, Pub Visits and bowling evenings all of which allow friends and relatives to become involved in some of the clubs activities.

Hykeham Lions Club is but one of many clubs that form Lions Clubs International which is the world’s largest service club organisation. There are some 44,000 clubs within 200 countries who work together to answer the needs of local communities.

Hykeham Lions meet twice monthly at the Rustons Sports and Social Club, Newark Road to discuss and arrange new and on-going projects. We are always looking for new like-minded members.
