Hykeham Lions Club was established in 1989. The club is made up of like minded friendly people who have made a conscious decision to give something back to their community.
The main objective of its members is to raise funds to support local charities, individuals and good causes.
Hykeham Lions run and organise various fundraising events throughout the year, examples of which are Golf Days, Wine Tasting evenings (with a difference), Casino nights, Easter Egg Raffles, Trolley dashes and at the end of the year they arrange for Santa to visit the streets of the local area.
In addition to fund raising the members of the club also volunteer their services to assist in local projects which are for the benefit of the community. Projects such as the Excellent Ageing, working with the local council and marshalling of local events.
The Hykeham Lions Club hold many social events which include barbecues, formal dinners, pub visits and bowling evenings all of which allow friends and relatives to become involved in some of the club’s activities.
Hykeham Lions Club is but one of many clubs that form Lions Clubs International which is the world’s largest service club organisation. There are some 44,000 clubs within 200 countries who work together to answer the needs of local communities.
Hykeham Lions meet twice monthly at the Hykeham Social Club, Moor Lane to discuss and arrange new and on-going projects. We are always looking for new like-minded members.

Lions are:
Members of the World’s largest and most active service club organisation; visit www.lionsclubs.org
People who have decided to give something back to their communities.
People who identify the needs of others and set about meeting those needs.
People who enjoy working together in fellowship to help those less fortunate than themselves.
People who enjoy themselves and include fun in their caring attitude.
Lions are NOT a political or religious organisation.
Lions meet the needs of local communities and the world. Our 1.35 million members – who perform community service in 207 countries and geographic areas – are different in many ways, but share a core belief: community is what we make it.
When you join Lions, you join a global service network. So, at the same time you’re doing local community service, you can also contribute to Lions volunteer efforts around the world.
As a fundraising charity, we aim to provide assistance to needy individuals from our own community and support the work of other charitable organisations within our local area.
We also support the work of the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), which provides assistance to needy communities throughout the world. To read about the response of Lions worldwide to the most recent events, follow the link to the Lions International Web Site. As a service club operating within our local community, most of our support is directed towards local people and small locally based charities. Lions Clubs are completely autonomous and all decisions are made by the members of the club.
Casino Nights
For many years Hykeham Lions have been running Fun Casino nights in our area.
Whatever the occasion: Weddings, Charity events or private parties, if you are looking to entertain your guests with a unique and thrilling experience then the Hykeham Lions Fun Casino offers the perfect solution for your event.
We can provide a Roulette table, three Card tables and a Dice table. We will come along with the expertise and a full complement of Lions croupiers in Full Black Tie Evening Dress.
How The Fun Casino Works
At the start of your casino event we will provide your guests with fun money. All games will be explained in full by our experienced croupiers, but we usually find that the guests who are first to play take great delight in sharing their new found ‘expertise and knowledge’ which contributes to a totally interactive event. The fun casino gambling is purely for entertainment, but you may if you wish, provide prizes for the ‘Top Casino Winners’ of the evening.
Santa Sleigh Runs
For many years Hykeham Lions have organised the Santa sleigh runs. This event usually runs for around 12 nights in December where we drive a fully decorated sleigh, complete with Santa and his helpers around the local area, spreading good cheer and collecting to help local good causes.
Coleby Downhill Challenge
Coleby Downhill Challenge is the Gravity Sports Race organised by the Hykeham Lions in association with the Coleby Village Hall Committee.
This is a fabulous event where racers create gravity powered cars called Soapbox’s to race downhill as fast as possible in the beautiful village of Coleby.
The bi-annual event started in 2014 saw just Soapbox’s race down the hill however 2016 we also added Soapbox Sidecars and Gravity Bikes.
Gravity Bikes are small Gravity powered bikes with no pedals to get them going. The rider sits as low as possible in a streamline position to maximise speed.
